Biography for Suzy Takvorian, LPC.

Suzy K. Takvorian, MA, NCC, LPC is licensed by the State of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor. In December of 1999, she received her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from New Jersey City University. She also earned her BA in Psychology with a Specialization in Mental Health from Jersey City State College, in Jersey City, NJ.

Suzy has over 22 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.  She has worked in numerous clinical settings including in-home settings, therapeutic nursery, intensive outpatient, multiple outpatient settings, hospitals, schools, and most recently, private practice.  Suzy provides individual, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults.

Suzy has sub-specialties in IPVA- Domestic Violence, pre/post adoption issues, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Nurturing Parenting, and employs these skills to assist her clients in developing a sense of emotional well-being while striving to achieve their full potential. Suzy specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults struggling with trauma-related matters. She has worked with clients who are survivors of sexual abuse, emotional abuse, domestic violence, and community violence. She has also worked with children and families contending with pre/post adoption issues, clients confronting life transition challenges, as well as many other mental health concerns.

Suzy is also an adjunct professor at New Jersey City University in the Department of Psychology where she has taught courses in Social Psychology, Introduction to Counseling, and Advanced Counseling courses.  

Suzy is passionate about working with children and families and improving negative behavioral issues and life patterns.  Suzy is also an advocate for clients and families with multicultural backgrounds.  She is especially aware that life’s everyday stressors can be challenging if there are sub-cultural clashes within family systems.  Suzy is committed to helping clients and families find ways to reach their optimum potential and supporting clients in gathering the necessary tools and techniques needed to lead healthy and successful lives.
