Biography for Emil Vernarec, LPC.

Emil Vernarec, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience providing individual psychotherapy for adults, young adults, and older adolescents. His work with clients draws upon evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavior therapy, integrative therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.

Emil’s experience includes treatment for a wide range of problems, including chronic depression, anxiety conditions, relationship issues, history of trauma/loss, and emotional stress related to difficult changes at various stages of life. Emil makes it a priority to create a safe, accepting atmosphere for clients. From that foundation, he works with them to identify underlying sources of distress, change self-defeating behaviors, and develop skills to make positive steps forward.

Emil’s education includes a Masters degree in Counseling from Montclair State University and additional clinical coursework at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He also completed specialized workshops at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. His work experience includes conducting short- and long-term individual therapy at NewBridge Services, a community mental health agency. Emil also served at Atlantic Behavioral Health-Overlook Medical Center, where he provided individual and group therapy in a six-week intensive outpatient program.  He is a member of the New Jersey Association of Cognitive-Behavior Therapists.
