Lillie Barber LSW, MSW, a Licensed Social Worker who earned her graduate degree from Montclair State University. She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Kean University. Lillie has experience in diverse clinical settings, including in-home counseling services and therapeutic supervised visitations services. She has worked with various populations including children, teens, young and middle aged-adults, and families through their associations with the NJ Division of Child Protection and Permanency. Lillie’s goal is to pursue further training in play therapy, sand tray therapy, and art therapy in the near future.
Lillie structures her therapy sessions to feel like a real conversation between her and her clients. She takes pride in ensuring that her clients feel seen, heard, comfortable, and fully respected in their meetings with her. She has a client-centered approach utilizing a blend of theoretical frameworks including art therapy, play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Strength-Based talk therapy.
Lillie’s goal in treatment is to support her clients in developing an array of coping strategies that revolve around healthy choices, healthy habits, and an empowered sense of self. Through a strength-based and client-centered approach, Lillie also supports her clients in managing stressors ranging from day-to-day challenges to larger unexpected life transitions and changes. Lillie has had the opportunity to work with clients who have lived through significant losses, parent-child separations, divorce, depression, anxiety, and many other issues. She is committed to creating a relaxed, friendly, and judgment-free environment to support her clients as they progress through their therapeutic journeys. Lillie is under the supervision of Gayle Brown, LCSW.
