Aneesah Friday, MSW, LSW is a Licensed Social Worker at ITI-NJ. She earned her Master's degree in Clinical Social Work, specializing in Children, Youth, & Families from the Rutgers School of Social Work. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Aneesah has previous experience in outpatient mental health, working with diverse client populations including children, adolescents, and young adults. Much of Aneesah's professional work is centered around the needs and well-being of children and adolescents, especially in relation to development and navigating a fast-paced world.
Aneesah prioritizes building trust and connection with clients, as she believes that proper communication and listening skills can help them feel seen, heard, and like they belong. She mostly utilizes a client-centered and strengths-based approach that blends together Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), art therapy, play therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. She also plans to pursue further training in play therapy, art therapy, sand tray therapy, and other related approaches.
Aneesah's goal in treatment is to support clients by introducing them to a variety of healthy habits, in addition to helping them recognize their full potential and self worth. Aneesah has had the opportunity to work with young clients who have anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, school difficulties, self esteem issues and adverse childhood difficulties such as strained parent-child relationships and significant losses. She is committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all clients that allows them to fully express how they feel and have needed guidance along the way. Aneesah is under the supervision of Juhi Patel, LCSW.
