Emma Gifford, LSW is a licensed social worker who obtained her Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. Emma is currently working under a licensed clinical supervisor at the Institute to gain required supervised hours for her LCSW license.
Emma has experience working with individuals of varied ages and backgrounds addressing a variety of issues including anxiety, mood disorders, interpersonal problems, life transitions, and trauma, as well as many other difficulties. In her work, Emma utilizes a compassionate, person-centered approach to understand the obstacles that are preventing her clients from living their lives to their fullest potential. She integrates methods from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and interpersonal therapy in her work, and focuses her efforts towards equipping and empowering her clients so they can identify and create meaning in their lives. Emma also believes that the most important answers to life questions reside within the clients themselves, and that the goal of therapy is to uncover them.
