Talnisha Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor with an advanced master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. She strongly believes all people deserve a safe counseling space to feel supported, respected, and heard without fear of judgment, pressure, or invalidation. After all, clients are the experts in their lives. She supports clients by using evidence-based practices to help develop practical choices that improve overall wellness.
Talnisha has extensive experience working with clients of all ages who are challenged with an array of issues and difficulties. She specializes in Multicultural Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, along with Behavioral and Holistic interventions. She has years of experience working with couples, parents, and adolescents and 9 years of combined experience in a variety of settings including outpatient care, education, crisis intervention and substance abuse organizations. Her primary areas of interest are emotional abuse, relationship challenges, body image, depression, anxiety, improving self-esteem, surviving relationship trauma, and work-life balance. She has also led workshops on Women's Mental Health Awareness, Self-Acceptance, Grief & Trauma, Self-Empowerment, Suicide Warning Signs, as well as Parenting Children with Disabilities. Talnisha is supported by organizations like the American Counseling Association, National Board of Certified Counselors, and The New Jersey Association for Multicultural Counseling. As part of her passion in the field, Talnisha strongly advocates for the advancement of research and the dire need for mental health awareness and quality supportive services for people of color.
