Lindsey Mattsson, MS, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience working in both private practice and in the community with children, adolescents, and adults. Lindsey earned her Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Psychology with a minor in Music from Indiana University Bloomington, and earned her Master’s Degree (MS) in Professional Counseling from Monmouth University.
Lindsey specializes in helping clients achieve their full potential by providing them with the tools needed to make better choices, become more self-aware, and understand their strengths and limitations. She also specializes in helping clients who are experiencing roadblocks, phase of life issues (such as a new career, marriage, divorce, pregnancy, etc.), or problems with anxiety, depression, and mood instability. In her work, Lindsey uses active listening strategies and employs different clinical approaches such as solution-focused techniques, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and/or psychodynamic techniques to help clients identify past traumas and then develop a better understanding as to how those traumas continue to affect them in their present life.
One area of special note is Lindsey’s extensive knowledge and years of experience working with children and adolescents--specifically those with behavioral problems and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Lindsey has worked as an in-home clinical therapist through (CSOC) with PerformCare for over five years and has provided a range of clinical and behavioral therapy services to children and adolescents with autism, behavioral problems, and global developmental delays. Lindsey also provides counseling and consultation to the parents who often feel overwhelmed, helpless, depressed, and frustrated, and who often have few outlets to express themselves because of a fear of judgment. Lindsey offers these families real-life solutions and strategies to effect change and provides parents with a supportive and judgment-free space to vent and discuss their everyday challenges of life.
Another of Lindsey’s areas of specialty is in the treatment of individuals struggling with compulsive behavior related to online activities such as gambling and sports betting, shopping, and social media. While being acutely aware of the positive societal advance-
ments the internet age has brought about, she is also keenly aware of the major challenges it poses to certain individuals. Lindsey helps struggling clients overcome their compulsive behaviors so they can return to leading productive and healthy lives unfettered by their prior lifestyles.
